2016 New Orleans Bowl Date Announced

R+L Carriers is heading back to NOLA y’all!

On Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 9PM (EST) the 16thAnnual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Officials from the New Orleans Bowl and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation made the official announcement May 4th. The game, which will be televised on ESPN and ESPN Radio, will feature a matchup between the Sun Belt Conference and Conference USA.

2015 Season Recap

Last season, both the Sun Belt Conference and Conference USA were full of storylines. Arkansas State surged to a Sun Belt Conference Championship with an 8-0 record in conference play, earning a spot in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Their opponent would be Louisiana Tech, who finished 6-2 in Conference USA. Louisiana Tech defeated Arkansas State 47-28. There was plenty of excitement during the game, as former Louisiana Tech running back Kenneth Dixon became the NCAA’s career leader in touchdowns and points, totaling 87 touchdowns and 522 points in his career at Louisiana Tech.

 

 

Kenneth was recently drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in this year’s NFL Draft. His teammate’s defensive tackle Vernon Butler was drafted by the Carolina Panthers and quarterback Jeff Driskel was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers.
