What a game! The 2012 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl once again showcased two teams that made the game interesting up to the last play. Congratulations to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in their victory against the East Carolina University Pirates. This is the second consecutive New Orleans Bowl victory for the Ragin’ Cajuns, and the second year in a row the Cajuns played in front of a record setting crowd; there were 48,828 fans in attendance on Saturday. The Mercedes Benz Superdome was a sea of red, as most of those in attendance were cheering for the Ragin’ Cajuns. If you missed the game, here are the highlights, courtesy of ESPN:
After the game, ULL Coach Mark Hudspeth was presented with the New Orleans Bowl trophy, and ULL Quarterback Terrance Broadway was awarded the Most Valuable Player award. The sophomore quarterback was 21 of 32 passing for 316 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. If that was not enough, he also rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown to those impressive stats.
Before the game, the crowd was treated to performances from the marching bands, cheerleaders, and dance teams from both schools. These student athletes play a big role in creating the exciting atmosphere that we all love about college football.
Thanks to both schools for being a part of the 2012 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Until next year — Let the Good Times Bowl!
