For college football fans today was a day of close games and big upsets. Louisiana was no exception to both defeat and excitement. The Ragin’ Cajuns were unable to catch up to Louisiana-Monroe and fell in a close match. The close loss brings them to 8-3, ending their 8 game winning streak.
Bowl Bound
Officials from the New Orleans Bowl were waiting in the locker room following last night’s loss to extend an official invitation to the 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The bid was accepted by Head Coach Mark Hudspeth and Director of Athletics Scott Farmer with great enthusiasm.
“We are thrilled that the Ragin’ Cajuns will be representing the Sun Belt Conference in the New Orleans Bowl for the third straight year,” said Bowl Executive Director Billy Ferrante. “Now in its 13th year, the New Orleans Bowl has become a wonderful tradition for the city of New Orleans and state of Louisiana and having a local team continue to participate generates even more excitement among locals and visitors alike.”
Football fans from Conference USA are still waiting to see who will face the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl defending champions in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on December 21st.
Defending Champions
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are currently 8-3. Hudspeth, in his third season at Louisiana, realizes the importance of keeping his team focused in the coming weeks, but also took some time to celebrate the team’s third straight bowl appearance. “We are excited to receive our third straight bowl invitation and especially excited to be heading back to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl! We look forward to another great bowl experience that includes our fans taking over the great city of New Orleans and playing in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Our team and fans will be ready.”
