New Orleans Bowl is More than Football

For R+L Carriers sponsoring the New Orleans Bowl is more than football.  The bowl is a year around event and is a partnership between the New Orleans Bowl organization, R+L Carriers and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation.

Year Around

The New Orleans Bowl and the GNOSF do a great job of engaging the community with events the entire calendar year. Sports clinics, tournaments and outreach are a priority during the other 11 months.

Youth Clinic

One of the largest attended events is the annual Youth Football Clinic. Almost 300 local high school student athletes had the opportunity to receive professional instruction from a group of NFL Players and Coaches. This event is held in the summer in partnership with Tulane University. Every participant received instruction and “Athletic Performance Testing” based on NFL Combine like drills.  The day is complete with lunch, athletic gear and a ticket to return to the game.

Cheer

This year the bowl organizations are hosting the first Cheer and Stunt Clinic. This one day clinic will be held on the field Friday the 19th of December. This 3 hour clinic is similar to the sports clinic. Souvenir shirt and tickets to the game are included for every participating student.

Community Events for Health

A two mile fun run was added to the event schedule this year. This run precedes the free concert in Champions Square at the Dome. Registration is still open for Friday’s race. Register for the fun run here: Race registration

Tickets

R+L Carriers, The New Orleans Bowl and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation are committed to bring New Orleans area youth to the game.  Area youth groups are encouraged to attend the Friday night concert and Saturday’s game with a low price ticket available through the New Orleans Bowl office. Interested groups can contact Derek Dupepe at 504-525-5678 for more information about these special $10.00 ticket packages. Groups not only get preferred seating, but groups will be recognized by name on the Jumbo-Tron.

Local Boy and Girl Scout groups are also invited to attend the game. With a special pregame activity on the field Scouts are encouraged to attend in uniform and enjoy the view from the field prior to kick off. Scouts for Football program gives active scouts free tickets and makes available $10.00 to siblings and parents of uniformed scouts. Again, Derek Dupepe  is the contact in the New Orleans Bowl office.

The Football for kids program is partnering with local businesses to provide free tickets to more than 3000 kids who otherwise would not be able to attend the game. Derek Dupepe reports this outreach program has grown every year. These tickets are made available by corporate sponsors.
