Jaguars Win!
South Alabama came ready to play. Fighting tough they scored two touchdowns in less than 40 seconds to close the first quarter. The first was on a long 51 yard bomb from Bridge to Claude Garrett. The second occurred when Montell Gardner grabbed an interception and ran it back for 59 yards. The first half had Idaho struggling offensively and the defense allowing 10 more points before the halftime break.
The second half started with a Brandon Bridge running for 54 yards for a touchdown during the first 90 seconds of the quarter. The Vandals did show some life in the 3rd quarter after they regained possession and scored just seconds later. The 3rd quarter was the only one where Idaho picked up points. South Alabama tacked 7 more points on in the 4th. Final score 34-10.
Efficient
While South Alabama didn’t control the ball as long as Idaho, only 26 minutes to Idaho’s 34, they outrushed them 233-30. Somewhat identical in passing yards and percentages the game changer was the running game. South Alabama averaged over 6 yards per carry and the Vandals were under 1 yard average.
